Kem Sereyvuth, recommended by Wayne (director of Wat Opot) is the taxi driver who first took Deb and me to Wat Opot. He was a simple, anonymous Cambodian man, driving a “moto taxi” in Phnom Penh, until he was “discovered” by Matt Dillon and cast as Sok in the film “City of Ghosts”. He’s still a simple man, but is understandably proud of his accomplishments. / Kem Sereyvuth nous a été recommandé par Wayne (directeur de Wat Opot). C’est le chauffeur de taxi qui nous a emmenées la toute première fois à Wat Opot. C’était un Cambodgien tout simple, anonyme, qui conduisait un “moto taxi” à Phnom Penh, jusqu’au jour où il a été “découvert” par Matt Dillon, qui lui a proposé le rôle de Sok dans le film “City of Ghosts”. Kem est toujours un homme simple, mais fier de ce qu’il a pu accomplir (ce qui se comprend !)

With the $6000 he made playing in the film, he eventually bought a taxi and now runs a lucrative business (by Cambodian standards) in Phnom Penh. We quite enjoyed hearing about his Hollywood days – and about Matt Dillon – during our taxi ride to Wat Opot. / Avec les $6000 qu’il a touchés pour son rôle dans le film, il a fini par acheter un taxi – maintenant il gagne très bien sa vie, surtout comparé à la moyenne des Cambodgiens.
