Wat Opot

Flowers at Wat Opot Kem Sereyvuth with Jackfruit Queue for snacks

From December 24 2007 to January 23 2008 my friend Deb and I went to Cambodia to work with the children in the Wat Opot Project, a center for AIDS orphans. In addition to doing a lot of hugging, we were able to bring some of our own skills – music, language (English, in this case), nursing… On this site you’ll be able to read more about our trip, to see pictures, read about Wat Opot and other things, and – hopefully – begin to understand why we were moved to make this journey.

See the list of sponsors for our trip, and the gifts we were able to make to Wat Opot thanks to you.

See the list of sponsors who have made donations to our Wat Opot project since February 2008.

MESSAGE FROM WAYNE DALE MATTHYSSE, director of Wat Opot

“Living and working at Wat Opot is a fantastic experience… and one of the things that makes it so great, other than the children, is the number of visitors and volunteers who come through our gates. From around the world they have entered, each leaving a part of themselves with us as they go, enriching our lives and expanding our horizons far beyond that which we once thought possible.”
